Many of my friends are superstitious and one in particular is always needing to touch wood to ward off bad luck. She is often frantically looking for a piece of wood but usually resorts to a pat on the head as a substitute.
I wanted to make her an object that would aid her in those times. I had come across some wood laminates and decided that a touch wood keyring would be the best solution. Most people carry their keys with them all the time so you would never be stuck without a piece of wood.
